Kelly Gorham is Montana born and raised and has relied on his old-school work ethic to drive a career spanning over 30 years. He began that career by begging the local newspaper photo editor to let him mop the darkroom floor just to get his foot in the door. Since then, his assignments as a staff and independent photographer and filmmaker have ranged from the prize pig at the county fair to the backstreets of Berlin and the wilds of Yellowstone. Kelly’s interest in storytelling and his careful approach to working with the subjects of those stories has made him a valuable creative contributor to a variety of projects for media outlets around the globe.
In 2022 the feature documentary film Mavericks, a co-production with Montana PBS, premiered. Mavericks was a lifelong dream that combined Kelly’s past life as a competitive skier with his profession of journalism and filmmaking. The film was honored with the Montana Broadcasters Association EB. Craney Production of the Year, Best Documentary Feature from the Flathead International Cinemafest and in 2023 was honored with five Emmy nominations and an Emmy award for editing.
